What we do
- The target is WCAG 2.1 AA. Colors are derived to meet AA contrast for every organization color and both themes; a script checks this across organization colors and themes.
- A focus ring is visible; pages have a skip to content link.
- On touch screens, primary controls are at least 44 pixels. Pages are designed so that no horizontal scrolling is needed down to 390 pixels wide.
- The reduced motion preference is applied everywhere; there are no endless animations.
- Shared form components tie labels, help text and error messages to the field programmatically; an error message says what happened and what to do.
- The interface is in Turkish and English; the page language is marked.
How we check
Before each release we run an automated accessibility scan with axe-core 4.13.0 against the WCAG 2.0 A, 2.0 AA, 2.1 A and 2.1 AA rules. The pages scanned are the organization home page, the program page, the application form, sign-in and the event page, in light and dark theme, at 390 and 1280 pixels wide. If it finds a serious or critical violation, we hold the release.
An automated scan catches only part of the problems. A systematic screen reader review and an independent accessibility audit have not been done yet.
Known limits
- Content written by organizations (program page text, form questions, announcements) and the documents they upload (PDFs, presentations, images) are the organizations' responsibility; Cohie does not check their accessibility.
- Cloudflare Turnstile, used for bot protection, is a third-party component; its accessibility is Cloudflare's responsibility. If you can't use it, write to the address below.
- Content written by organizations can be in one language only. If the English version is not filled in, the Turkish text is shown and its language is marked.
- Logo contrast depends on the file the organization uploads. For a logo that is hard to read on a dark background there is an option to show it on a light plate.
